    Data and assessment literacy have become a big part of K – 12 education, but it can often be difficult to establish a positive data culture that promotes student growth and facilitates professional learning. The following research report examines how the Taking Action with Data framework can galvanize the educational community into proactive data use and explores how the framework facilitated the creation and validation of the Professional Learning Maps Data Use survey instrument.

    Family Engagement Research & Validation Report

    According to the National Education Association (2015), parental involvement, or family engagement, increases the likelihood that students will raise grade point averages and earn higher test scores, and attrition rates will decrease; socially, students improve their behavior and adapt better to the school environment, which also affects their academic successes during grade school and beyond. In this report, we review current trends in family engagement, explore effective strategies of engagement, and discuss how those strategies informed the creation and validation of the Professional Learning Maps Family Engagement survey instrument.
