Grounded in a core belief of mutual respect and trust, Sarah Ottow’s Boston-based organization Confianza supports educators of multilingual learners through a collection of practical research-based tools, resources, and services.
We partnered with Ottow's organization to design a Professional Learning Map that supports educators as they create powerful learning experiences for English learners. Our collaboratively-designed, research-based content empowers educators by providing them with the resources to enhance learning and prepare English learners for success in school and beyond.
Fisher & Frey, Literacy for Life
We partnered with nationally renowned authors and literacy experts Nancy Frey, Ph.D., and Douglas Fisher, Ph.D., to create two Professional Learning Maps. In Close Reading of Complex Texts, we offer an opportunity for hands-on, close-reading practice and provide strategies and resources to help educators choose complex texts, develop text-dependent questions, and promote classroom discussions. For our second co-developed Map, Writing Using Evidence, we provide the flexible and actionable resources educators need to teach students how to write using evidence from informational and literary texts, as well as facilitate and encourage classroom discussions around these texts.
With an emphasis on effective communication, Kathy Kee has focused her career on fostering confident, competent, and courageous leaders in education. The fundamental communication skills outlined in her book, Results Coaching: The New Essential for School Leaders, include committed listening, paraphrasing, presuming positive intent, and reflective feedback. These powerful strategies are integral to many of our Professional Learning Maps, including our Data Use Map, which features Kee speaking candidly about the role each of these skills play in effective conversations about data.

Professional Learning Maps partnered with Learning Forward to integrate their Standards Assessment Inventory into Professional Learning Maps’ PathFinder and Leadership Map. Learning Forward's Standards for Professional Learning outline the characteristics of professional learning that lead to effective teaching practices, supportive leadership, and improved student results. Coupled with PathFinder, these standards provide schools and districts with an efficient and insightful method to determine the quality of professional learning that educators receive.
ReVision Learning provides customized services designed to meet the needs of each client, with consistent emphasis on nurturing the hearts and minds of policymakers and practitioners charged with supporting students. We worked with ReVision Learning to develop the Professional Learning Map, Increasing Instructional Effectiveness through Evidence-Based Observation and Feedback, which is focused on increasing observer capacity to craft evidence-based feedback in order to strengthen instructional practice.
